What you will demonstrate

Prepare like the role is already yours.

  • Produces complete repair orders with vehicle and VIN identity, customer concern, symptom reproduction, pre-scan and freeze-frame evidence, test results, root cause, estimate, authorization, repair, and final verification.
  • Uses VIN, build data, service history, recalls, technical service bulletins, wiring diagrams, specifications, repair procedures, scan topology, customer interview, symptom reproduction, pre-scan, DTC, freeze-frame, live-data, and baseline inspection with appropriate safeguards.
  • Partners effectively with drivers, vehicle owners, fleet operators, passengers, pedestrians, and road users who depend on a safe repair.
  • Balances diagnostic accuracy, first-time fix, comeback and repeat-fault rate, no-fault-found rate, parts accuracy, billed-versus-actual diagnostic time, and repair-order completeness.
  • Guards against clearing codes before preserving freeze-frame data, replacing the component named by a DTC, bypassing interlocks or protective systems, working on high voltage without qualification, PPE, isolation, and absence-of-voltage verification, lifting from an unapproved point or working without mechanical locks, using an impact tool as final torque, road-testing an unsafe vehicle, venting or mixing refrigerant, opening a hot cooling system, disabling ABS, airbags, ADAS, or emissions controls, exceeding authorization, hiding a comeback, or declaring a repair complete without post-scan and functional verification.
